Round the country on mobike in 120 days
KOLLAM: A youth from Kollam is all set to travel 175,000 km across the country on his 100 cc motorbike, covering 29 states and six Union Territories, to break into the Guinness World Records. The ride, named ‘India on two wheels’, begins on Saturday and will cover all the taluks in the country in 120 days.
Simon Peter, a resident of Thrikkaruva–Prakkulam, will also collect basic facts about the villages he visits during the tour. “It took almost one-and-a-half years to complete my preparations for this tour. I collected information, climate and facts about local residents of the villages I am about to visit during my tour. I prepared a route map covering villages in 29 states and six Union Territories before commencing the tour,” said Mr. Simon.
Simon Peter has planned to visit almost all the taluks and over six lakh villages in the country. He will start from Sambranikkodi in Kollam, which is towards the North of the State, and will return through a route covering Tamil Nadu to end at Sambranikkodi. Mr. Simon will cover over 15,000 taluks.
The journey will be monitored by the Guinness authorities through a GPS device installed on his motorcycle. The journey envisages propagating the message of unity in diversity. The programme will be flagged off by minister Shibu Baby John in the presence of MLA P.K. Gurudasan on Saturday.
The journey will cover Khardungala pass, Kargil, Leh, Ladakh, Nathula Pass, and various other strategically important places in the country. Simon Peter (37), son of Peter and Seleenaamma of Aiswarya, Sambranikkodi has the support of his wife Jeena and children Aan Mary and Albin. He expects to travel over 600 kms a day during his journey.
