Resentment over ‘options’ to Andhra Pradesh staff

TS staff threaten to go on warpath against state
Hyderabad: Resentment is brewing among Telangana employees over the “options” used by AP staff to work in TS. In a crucial revenue earning department like commercial taxes in TS, only one AP employee of the rank of deputy commissioner working in Hyderabad has chosen to work for AP while the remaining seven gave “options” to the Kamalnathan Committee choosing the TS cadre, triggering protests from Telang
ana staff.
In Hyderabad, there are 12 divisions of the department with each headed by a deputy commissioner. TS staff point out that only one deputy commissioner, Mr Srinagesh, heading the Hyderabad rural division and hailing from AP, has opted for that state.
They also complained that majority of the commercial tax officers (CTOs) working in Hyderabad hail from AP, but have given “options” for TS despite AP having the required vacancies.
TS employees are also angry with the Kamalnathan panel for allotting many TS staff to AP, especially in departments like animal husbandry, transport, commercial taxes, economics and statistics, etc.
Telangana employees’ leader and TRS MLA, Mr V. Srinivas Goud, met Mr Kamal-nathan and pointed out the discrepancies in the allotments and demanded corrective measures. The TS staff are planning to go on the warpath against the TS government soon after the first anniversary of the state’s Formation Day on June 2, demanding to bring back 6,000 TS staff working for AP since June last year on provisional basis under “order to serve” and send back all AP-native staff working for TS to AP.
They want TS to bring pressure on the Kamalnathan panel to ensure that all TS staff work only in TS and no AP employee is allotted to TS. TS employees are demanding that “nativity” should get priority over “options” in the allotments and warn that any allocation made against this would only lead to resentment among employees.
Employees in both states have the facility to give “options” to choose their state as per the provision stipulated under the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014.
However, employees from both states are accusing each other of utilising the same to avoid transfer from one state to other.
While AP employees are accusing some TS employees of giving AP options to avail of the higher retirement age of 60 years against 58 years in TS, the latter are alleging that AP staff were giving options to continue to work in Hyderabad and neighbouring districts.
