Party workers to face deekshas heat

Navanirmana, Samara deekshas in May
Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s Navanirmana Deeksha scheduled to be held on May 2 and Opposition party leader Y.S. Jagan’s two-day Samara Deeksha from May 3 will be an acid test for the two leaders and government administration.
Even the top bosses of political parties have proposed to conduct the deekshas at Vijayawada and Mangalagiri but the high temperatures of the areas may be really tough for the parties and concerned participants. People of the area are not in a position to spend even a few minutes outdoors.
According to the ongoing developments, the top bosses of two political parties will participate in the deekshas but that would be a tough task for the TD and YSRC party workers.
Temperatures have been continuously registering around 450C for the past few days. Several deaths have also been registered almost on a daily basis due to the prevalent heatwave.
Meanwhile, health organisations have also suggested the people not to spend time outside. However, contrary to all the suggestions and warnings, the party workers have no option but to participate in the meetings.
It may be noted that Nandigama former MLA late Tangirala Prabhakar Rao died after his tour of various areas in the district in the mid summer. A TD activist, on condition of anonymity, said the leaders would sit under specially designed AC tents but the workers would have to literally face the heat from the proposed deekshas.
On the other hand, officials and leaders also identified the problem and were making arrangements to provide drinking water. Krishna district collector A. Babu has already instructed officials to take necessary steps in view of the hot weather.
