Nasser hits out at Sarath, seeks explanation, docus
Chennai: The run up to the South Indian Film Artistes’ Association (Nadigar Sangam) elections turned ugly with veteran actor M.Nasser writing to association president R.Sarath Kumar seeking an explanation about an issue pertaining to construction of a new building for the association. The letter also shared to media houses comes a day after Nadigar Sangam president R.Sarath Kumar warned actor Vishal over his speech at Pudukottai.
Vishal was critical of the cine body and questioned why a new building was not being built on the association’s land at T.Nagar here. The young actor openly stated that if Sarath Kumar and the present office-bearers were unable to get the construction work underway, they should hand the reins over to those ready to take over.
In his letter, Actor Nasser asked, “Why is the trust body having only two members instead of the required nine members for the past 10 years? Also, the documents show that you (Sarath Kumar) and Radha Ravi as lifetime trustees. On whose directions were these decisions made? May I see the documents?” The letter was released to the media. It is to be noted that a former office-bearer, Poochi Murugan, slapped the body with notices and obtained a stay order, stopping the construction.
