Rs 5 crore for Ramzan in Telangana
Hyderabad: The Telangana state government will sanction Rs 5 crore for the repairs of masjids in the state and also ensure that the facilities of roads, pavements, streetlights is restored so that the prayers during Ramzan are not affected. The holy month of Ramzan will start from June 19.
The Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Khairtabad C. Ramchandra Reddy demanded that the state government pay at least Rs 10,000 to all the Imams who offer Taraveeh prayers in various mosques across Telangana.
Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali who chaired the meeting explained, “The demand of the BJP leader will be considered at the level of the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and it will be discussed. We are committed to cleanliness, ensuring adequate electricity and water supply to the citizens during this one month of Ramzan.”
Mir Firasath Ali Baqiri, a resident of Abids explained, “We want the government to ensure that there is no interruption in power during the namaz time in the evenings. That is most important. Right now the officers agree, but often there are disruptions and we want them to look into it very seriously.”
