Hyderabad will be top IT destination, says K T Rama Rao
The TRS govt has set a target of Rs 1.20 lakh crore IT exports in the next four years
Hyderabad: The TRS could ensure a remarkable turnaround from despair to hope in new Telangana State in a span of one year, IT minister K.T. Rama Rao said on Thursday.
From making Hyderabad an IT destination and encouraging entrepreneurship instead of banking on jobs besides addressing farm suicides were top on the agenda.
The TRS government has set a target of Rs 1.20 lakh crore IT exports in the next four years as against the present Rs 57,000 crore. It has identified 14 thrust areas including IT, Life Sciences and Aerospace sector in Hyderabad and the rest in other parts of Tela-ngana, he added.
“A year ago when the state was to be formed, there were venomous campaign, doubts, fears and confusion. Not anymore. T-State is in a vibrant mode. The TRS government under K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s leadership instilled confidence in people, especially those living in Hyderabad, checked fears of flight of industries, ensured a power cut free summer and new corporates to line up in Hyderabad,” he said.
Asked if TRS would join NDA government, he said both governments are working in tandem. “We don’t want to quarrel with the Centre. But it should treat all states equally,” he said. He said Hyderabad retained its cosmopolitan culture and there was peace despite rumours spread by vested interests. “Earlier state governments used short cut methods which destroyed the health and education sector. People who were sceptical about Telangana, Hyderabad like Sanjay Baru and others have now turned around to pat the T-government. Its business as usual in Hyderabad,” he said.
He stated that Hyderabad retained its cosmopolitan culture and there was peace despite rumours spread by vested interests, Rama Rao said he would be visiting Taiwan and Hong Kong from June 3 to 6 to woo mobile manufacturers and other manufacturing units to Hyderabad. He also plans to visit South Korea soon.
“We have low cost high value human resources. Youth are no more interested in working in back offices. They want to start their own units like in US. We are not focussing only on Hyderabad. Some plan to set up BPOs in Kamareddy, Karimnagar and Warangal. One of the biggest incubators will be launched next month. From employment seekers, they
want to be employment generators,” he said.
Rama Rao said the government was going on the right track and would achieve all the set goals in the next four years. When told that the government ignored the agriculture sector, he said it was not true. “We took several measures including loan waiver, but agrarian crisis continues. We will take steps and check farm suicides. We focussed on development and welfare. Both are going according to our strategy,” he added.
