Let’s paint around the lakes

As part of artist Ramana Reddy’s art camp to mark the state’s Formation Day, here’s an idea to promote our lakes

The entire state is gearing up for the Telangana Formation Day and the artist community is not left behind. To celebrate the first anniversary of the state’s formation, artist Ramana Reddy has organised an art camp wherein close to 100 artists from the state will get together and paint various facets of “Glorious Telangana”.

“Art is the best way to record and pay tribute to something as big as the formation of a state. Since there was so much struggle to win Telangana, we decided that an art camp was the best way to celebrate the Formation Day,” says Ramana Reddy.

The art camp will have two phases, informs the artist. “The first one will be held between June 3 and June 5 and the probable dates for the second phase will be between June 10 and June 11,” says Ramana.

The second phase of the art camp is titled Mission Kakatiya and will take place at one of the lakes near Hyderabad.

“Growing up in villages, lakes played a pivotal role. It was one of the most important places in our lives, but now with so many lakes disappearing, we want to bring back the focus to the importance of lakes,” adds Ramana.

The paintings will be displayed at the State Art Gallery and then will get å permanent home at Dr Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute.
