Rajahmundry: A Gnana Saraswati temple of Basara fame will be coming up on the banks of Godavari river in the city at a cost of '5 crore for the ensuing Godavari Pushkaralu. A group philanthropists hailing from various professions are taking up the construction of the temple. The state government is taking up construction of Saraswati ghat, which is also called a VIP ghat, near the temple to enable the VVIPs take a holy dip in the Godavari river and perform rituals. Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is expected to arrive in the city to inaugurate the Godavari fete on July 14, is also likely to inaugurate the partially completed temple.
The donors are making lavish plans for the temple. Accordingly, they intend to develop the temple as a major centre of attraction for the people from all over the state to enable the parents to initiate their children into studies.
They are planning to organise Veda Patan-am for 365 days in a year as the students from the Vedic school will recite the vedas on the banks of river auguring good omen for the city and its people. Idols of deities Sar-aswati, Bharat Mata and Godavari Mata will be installed in the temple for worship. 108 forms of deity Parvati will also be installed.
They will arrange a Nadhi Vihara to the deity on Hamsa Vahan-am. Nitya Naivedyam will be offered to Godavari Mata and a Vahanam for her is also being prepared wi-th its head resembling an elephant trunk, tail of a swan and mouth of a crocodile. She will be taken for sail in a specially designed boat on the river Godavari.
A special stone is being used for making idols and a Mula Virat is to be installed in the temple.
One of the donors and civil contractor Thota Subba Rao said, “We intend to enrich the cultural glory of Rajamahendravaram by taking up construction of Saraswati temple along Akhanda Godavari where the Veda Ghosha will reverberate bringing good vibes to the people living along its course.”
