Plea in Madras High Court seeks supplementary exam for SI post
Chennai: The Madras high court has ordered notice to the director of the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board (TNUSR) on a petition, which sought a direction to TNUSR to conduct a supplementary examination to the post of sub-inspector of police (taluk) in TN Police Subordinate Service. Justice S. Vaidyanathan posted to June 8, further hearing of the petition filed by P. Annalakshmi, which also sought a direction to TNUSR to permit her to write the supplementary examination.
According to petitioner, she was presently working as a constable at Tirupur city. She was a departmental candidate and joined on November 16, 2009. After completing her class 12, she completed her graduation at Annamalai University in B.A Police Administration. She studied under graduation through correspondence course. In January 2015, the TNUSR invited application for appointment to the post of sub-inspector at TN Police Subordinate Service.
After getting NOC from Tirupur deputy commissioner of police, she submitted her application, in which she had clearly mentioned about her qualification. Thereafter, she was informed that a hall ticket will be sent intimating the date and venue of written examination. However, to her utter shock, her application was rejected by the TNUSR on the ground of educational qualification. Her application was erroneously rejected by the TNUSR. Therefore, she came to Chennai and approached the authorities but could not get hall ticket.
The last recruitment was made in 2010 and the previous recruitment was made in 2006. She was not aware of the next recruitment to be made and she will be over-aged and will not be in a position to participate in the next recruitment. The written examination was conducted on May 24, 2015. She lost her golden opportunity to become a sub-inspector of police. Hence, she has filed the present petition, she added.
