Only Telugu Desam can develop two states, says Chandrababu Naidu
He said the party would nurture 100 better leaders for every leader who leaves the party
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said the party would nurture 100 better leaders for every leader who leaves the party.
In his inaugural address at the party’s annual conclave Mahanadu-2015, which began at Gandipet, Mr Naidu said no one could marginalise the TD. He cited the attempt made by the Congress stating that it had been routed in AP after it targeted the TD and bifurcated the state.
“Only a party like the TD can do justice to both states by developing AP and Telangana. AP and TS are like two eyes to me,” he said and vowed to come to power in Telangana in the next elections.
“Sentiment is temporary but development is permanent and I am confident of taking the reins again for the huge development I have done for the state,” he said. He asked party leaders and workers to go to the people to expose the TRS government’s failures and its “anti- people policies”.
CM dares TRS for development debate:
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday challenged the TRS to a debate on who developed Hyderabad and Telangana. In the same breath, he requested the TRS government to cooperate with the TD government to develop both the states in the larger interests of the Telugu people.
“Whenever I go to Delhi, I urge the Centre to do justice to both AP and TS,” he said. Addressing party workers at the three-day Mahanadu-2015, he said no one would forget the development work done by him. “I worked hard to develop Telangana. Like me, several TD leaders and workers sacrificed their family life to strengthen the party and develop Telangana. It gives us utmost satisfaction to work for the betterment of people,” he said.
City littered with plastic Desam flags:
The three-day Telugu Desam Mahanadu that started in Hyderabad on Wednesday left the city littered with plastic flags. These flags are hazardous for the environment as most of them are made of plastic that is of less than 20 microns. Such plastic is banned.
The material affects the environment in more than one ways. It hampers the natural aeration process of surface water bodies, chokes municipal sewer lines and stormwater drains and clogs the bar-screens of sewage treatment plants.
Upset environmentalists said that every time there is a political meeting, the parties litter the city with plastic material. It was the same case during the recent TRS plenary session when the city was covered with pink plastic promotion material.
Major Shiva Kiran, head of environmental NGO Sukuki Exnora, said, “A leader of the caliber of Mr Naidu, who is giving priority to the environment while developing the new capital of Andhra Pradesh, should ensure that no wrong signals are sent out when his party conducts a large-scale meeting. Political parties across the spectrum foul the environment whenever they conduct a meeting by using plastic campaign materials. Moreover, GHMC is burdened to collect the plastic material from across the city and find a way to dispose the waste carefully.”
