Metro set to fly over flyovers
The viaduct, which will jump over another flyover, will be completed in eight months
Hyderabad: The Jubilee Bus Station Metro viaduct will be about 63 feet above road level, jumping over not only the Hari Hara Kala Bhavan flyover, but another Metro viaduct as well. This is the only triple elevation of Metro Rail in the city and the most complicated one. The viaduct coming from JBS will cross the flyover and the other Metro viaduct and connect with the alignment ahead of the Garden restaurant leading towards Bhoiguda RoB, Secunderabad.
The linking process will take eight months and traffic will not be halted during construction, said sources. This is highest elevation in the entire Metro project.
The Metro Corridor two, from Nagole to Shilparamam, runs parallel to Patny, Paradise and Begumpet airport flyovers.
Seven pillars have already been erected at the JBS signal and another five taking a right turn towards the YMCA junction. Metro Rail managing director N.V.S. Reddy said, “It is a very complicated structure, as there is also a joint interchange station at Paradise of corridor 2-3. The linking of the viaduct will take around seven-eight months, a stage similar to that of Panjagutta needs to be set up. This will connect through the Garden Restaurant and Clock Tower; the viaduct will further cross the Bhoiguda railway crossing and then head towards old Gandhi Hospital.”
“There will be no traffic halt during the works, its like building a flyover over another flyover. The construction will have to be done in site (there itself ); this is the most complicated junction,” he added.
