Bengaluru: Two constables suspended for playing cards inside police station
Bengaluru: Two head constables attached to the Old Airport Road police station have been suspended after a local news channel aired a footage of the duo in their uniforms playing cards inside the station.
The erring cops, identified as Sadashivappa and Dhananjaya, were shown in the video footage playing cards at the police station during duty hours. After the footage went viral on TV and social media, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Rohini Katoch Sepat summoned the duo for an inquiry and subsequently suspended both of them pending inquiry.
“Prima facie the evidence shows that both were playing the cards and not gambling. They had reportedly told the DCP that for the last two years they have not been playing any cards as one was in the day shift and the other in night shift. The footage was probably recorded couple of years back.
Though it looked like they are playing during the leisure hours, a probe is on to verify the exact time of the footage,” Rohini told Deccan Chronicle. The duo has been suspended because they were playing cards in the uniform, she added.
