Telugu Desam constitution to be changed
Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam will amend the party’s constitution during the three-day Mahanadu, which is scheduled to begin on Wednesday. In the changed circumstances after the state bifurcation, it has become necessary to change the party’s constitution.
Top sources in the Telugu Desam said party chief and CM N. Chandrababu Naidu will appoint separate presidents to the AP and Telangana state party units. The party will constitute a central committee headed by Mr Naidu. Leaders from both states will be appointed.
In the present constitution, there is no provision to appoint separate presidents for two states and for a central committee. The TD leadership has appointed a three member-committee, headed by senior leader and finance minister Yanamala Rama krishnudu, to look into party affairs, including the national tag for the party.
Party sources said that Nara lokesh, the TD workers’ welfare fund coordinator, is likely to be inducted into the central committee. Party sources said Mr Lokesh is showing more interest in TS party affairs.
A senior leader close to Mr Naidu said, “Whatever post is given to Mr Lokesh, his present responsibility of workers’ welfare will continue.” During the Mahanadu, Mr Naidu will announce presidents of AP and Telangana party units. For TS, the present president L. Ramana may continue. Senior leader K. Kala Venkat Rao may be appointed for AP.
