Kerala police arrest DJ-cum-drug supplier following raid
Kochi: A well-known DJ, who allegedly supplies drugs to night party events in the city, was arrested on Tuesday. The police said he was the one who organised the recent DJ party held at a five-star hotel during which banned narcotics were seized from seven persons, including Russian DJ performer Psykovsky alias Vasily Markelov.
DJ Mithun C. Vilas alias Kokaachi, 27, a native of Ponnekara, was held after cops recovered banned narcotic substances, including hashish and bupropion, after conducting surprise raids on his residence.
According to police, it was Kokaachi who invited Psykovsky to Kochi and organised the party on Saturday night at Le Meridian Hotel. Police during a raid had seized nearly 60 grams of drugs and arrested seven persons, including Psykovsky.
“We’ve recovered around 40 grams of hashish from the residence of Kokaachi, besides empty boxes and packets which we suspect were used to store LSD and cocaine. We also seized two bupropion ampoules from his car. He was produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate and remanded. We are filing a petition seeking his custody for five days,” said investigation officer and south circle inspector Siby Tom.
Though the others were granted bail and released, Kokaachi was remanded since possession of even a single bupropion ampoule is a non-bailable offence. The samples of the seized drugs were later sent to the Regional Chemical Laboratory in Kakkanad for detailed testing.
“We’d information that Kokaachi was using and selling drugs. But we could not arrest him at the party as he did not possess it or use it on that day. However, the interrogation of the other accused revealed that he used to supply high-end drugs,” he said.
