Auto driver from Udupi gifts Re 1 ride to celebrate Modi’s one year
Udupi: Perhaps even Prime Minister Narendra Modi might be stunned to see the unique style adopted by a die-hard fan of his on the NDA government’s completion of one year in office!
The Modi government’s first anniversary was celebrated by his fans and followers throughout the country on Tuesday who distributed sweets and burst crackers. But Sathish Prabhu of Koteshwara in Udupi district who owns an autorickshaw, gave a ride to all his commuters at just Rs 1 (for a maximum of 5 km)!
Prabhu has put a poster behind his rickshaw with Mr Modi’s photo while former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s photo has been pasted on the side. Forty-year-old Prabhu hails from Ankadkatte in Koteshwara near Kundapur. He owns a rickshaw and also runs a cement shop.
“This is my way of celebrating Modiji’s one year in office. I like his governance and decided that instead of wasting money, I would adopt a unique way to celebrate the occasion,” Prabhu told Deccan Chronicle. “Many people depend on the rickshaw and offering them a ride at Rs 1 would help them too,” he said.
