VS Achuthanandan asks Congress high command to remove KM Mani
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader V. S. Achuthanandan on Monday said with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy refusing to oust tainted K. M. Mani, the Congress central leadership should intervene and remove the finance minister from the Cabinet.
In a statement, Mr Achuthanandan said the chief minister should remove the defiant Mani. However, one cannot expect such a decision from a chief minister “who cooked gruel for all thieves”.
If the UDF government failed to remove Mani, it would face people’s wrath in the coming days, he added. He slammed the finance minister for trying to rake up the “leak” of the lie detection test report to divert attention from the bar bribery case. “Mani is trying to portray the leakage of the report as a bigger crime than accepting bribe worth crores of rupees.
The finance minister has no option but to put in his papers in view of the damning evidence,” Mr Achuthanandan said.
