Telangana fears job loss if zones exist

Chandrasekhar Rao had indicated his plans of scrapping the zonal system

Hyderabad: For zonal-cadre posts, 30 per cent posts and in the multi-zonal cadre 40 per cent posts should be offered for which any eligible candidate from anywhere in the state can apply.

The Telangana government feels that if the zonal system is continued, it will provide scope for Seemandhra students in TS to secure majority of open quota jobs which may lead to resentment among Telangana locals. Under the new plan, the government wants to take the state as a single zone and ensure jobs for only TS locals to the maximum extent without inviting legal trouble.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had indicated his plans of scrapping the zonal system while addressing the huge gathering at Parade Grounds last month during the TRS plenary meeting. As a follow up, the legal department is busy exploring legal options for the purpose. The department has been assigned the task of suggesting measures to the government on the precautions it has to take while issuing recruitment notifications after scrapping the zonal system.

After the Chief Minister approves this, the government is planning to issue new job notifications with norms to coincide with the first anniversary celebrations of the TS Formation Day on June 2. By doing so it wants to strike a right chord with students who are criticising the government for its failure to issue notifications even a year after it came to power in the new state.
