Five parachutes seen over Mumbai airport
New Delhi: The Indian Air Force is yet to unearth any substantive evidence regarding the reported flight of five unidentified parachute-like objects said to have been spotted in the Mumbai airspace on Saturday. No video footage was available of the incident, though still photographs were available.
The IAF swung into action on Monday to unearth evidence. The civil aviation ministry also asked Air India to verify exactly what had happened. There were some reports initially suggesting that the objects may have been remote-controlled parachutes since they were flying against the wind, with speculation also that they could have been sky lanterns of Chinese make.
Security agencies are said to be looking into the matter since any unidentified flying object could be used to carry bombs or other explosive material.
