DVS detractors at work, delay filing of chargesheet in Mythriya ‘rape case’
Bengaluru: Detractors of Union law minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda within the state unit of BJP seem determined to torment him, and have evidently influenced the city police to delay the process of submission of a charge sheet against the leader’s son, Karthik Gowda.
Though Mr. Gowda has reportedly made several requests to the city police to submit a charge sheet against his son, certain leaders who opposed his decision to contest last year’s Lok Sabha elections from Bengaluru (North), have stalled the process of submission of charge sheet though investigation based on a complaint of rape and cheating by Mythriya Gowda against Karthik Gowda has been completed, sources close to the Union minister told Deccan Chronicle, adding that as his son was engaged, the bride’s kin want the wedding date be fixed at the earliest. Officers of the city police, however, are dragging their feet on filing the charge sheet in the designated court though the case was registered in September 2014.
Recently, Mr. Gowda requested additional commissioner of police Alok Kumar (now placed under suspension by the state government) to file the charge sheet so that the case could be contested. Mr Alok Kumar, however, did not heed to the pleas of the Union minister, sources added.
Sources said Mr. Gowda’s rivals in BJP were keen to keep the case alive and had sent all details to senior central leaders in New Delhi. The minister, however, briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the case, sources added. When contacted, Mr. Gowda declined to comment on the issue.
