Kulithalai: Four, including 3 of a family killed in mishap
Kulithalai: Four persons including three of a family were killed in two different road accidents near Kulithalai in Karur District on Monday. Police said three persons were killed and a 7-year-old boy was injured when a car in which they were travelling collided with a concrete mixture-laden tanker lorry near Vathiyam under Kulithalai police limits.
The occupants of the car were R Ramesh Thanthri (40), his wife Mrs Usha (35) and their sons Aditya (13) and Ayish (7) hailing from Karur. They were on their way to Tiruchy, with Ramesh driving the car.
Police said Ramesh, Mrs Usha and Aditya were killed on the spot. However, the 7-year-old boy Ayish escaped unhurt. The bodies of the deceased were moved to Government hospital Kulithalai for post-mortem. Ayish was also admitted in the same hospital.
In another accident, a 34-year-old employee of a private spinning mill was killed on the spot when a speeding lorry knocked him down along with his two-wheeler at Keelakurapalayam village under Kulithalai police limits near Karur on Monday.
The deceased was identified as P Kanagaraj of Veeranampatti in Karur district, who was on his way to work at a private factory at Thathaiyengarpettai when the accident occurred. He was rushed to a hospital at Tiruchy, where he succumbed to his injuries, police said. The drivers have been arrested.
