This one is for the dogs
A camp organised recently showed what one can learn from a dog’s body language
Hyderabad: A Place To Bark, a voluntary organisation for abandoned and abused animals run by students Shruti Darak and Mohammad Zabi Khan, conducted a summer camp on animal rights at a city orphanage on Sunday.
Attended by 25 children between the ages of eight to 12, the workshop focussed on teaching children the body languages of dogs and how they can approach them.
The children were also advised that if they have food to spare, they should put it out for the strays in their neighbourhood along with a bowl of water. Zabi says, “We wanted to address children because they are the future.”
The children also pledged to be kind and helpful to animals around them.
A FEW TIPS
- Notice the dog’s tail first. If it’s pointing up, the dog is dominant in nature and will do anything to protect its territory
- If the tail is not pointed up and is wagging, you can consider the dog friendly
- If the dog’s tail is between his legs, then the dog is feeling cornered and could turn aggressive
