Land pooling for National Investment Manufacturing Zone likely
NIMZ is a Central government-aided project and 16 such zones will be set up

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has sanctioned Rs 1.25 crore for land alienation for three months towards establishment of the National Investment Manufacturing Zone in Medak district. This is in addition to Rs 20 crore it had sanctioned in the last week of March for payment towards compensation for land acquisition.
NIMZ is a Central government-aided project and 16 such zones will be set up. According to a statement issued by Union MoS for commerce, Nirmala Sitaraman and DIPP, the TS government has conveyed that the proposed NIMZ would attract an investment of Rs 43,000 crore and would generate 3.15 lakh direct and 4.50 lakh indirect employment opportunities in five to seven years.
The NIMZ will be developed in an area of 12,600 acres, but just around 4,000 acres are in the government’s possession. A huge chunk of land is either in private hands or is Wakf assigned and acquisition cannot be done in one go. A senior government official said that they are actively considering land pooling on the lines of AP.
“Although it met with some opposition, it was a bit successful and it will be a safe proposition. Moreover, to acquire nearly 9,000 acres is no small issue and we will have to go about it in a methodical way,” he said. He added that the decision will be taken at a political level.
