Watch: Emraan Hashmi steps out on the pitch as 'Azhar' in new biopic

Mumbai: On Thursday May 21, Balaji films and MSM announced their next venture a biopic based on the life of controversial cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin. Emraan Hashmi will be seen essaying the role of the former Indian cricket team captain in the biopic, which will release on May 13, 2016.

The film chronicles the life and times of Azharuddin, through his colourful journey. From international cricketing successes to controversial detours in his personal life, ‘Azhar’ is the story of a fallen hero.

The film also stars Prachi Desai, who will play the role of Mohammad Azharuddin’s wide Naureen. The film will also draw light on the cricketer’s marriage to actress Sangeeta Bijlani. It still hasn’t been decided which actress will essay her role. However the casting directors have short listed a couple of names for the part.

Emraan Hashmi began his training in January, and will commence shooting next month. Take a look at the teaser here
