Cops stop family bid to end life
Manikyam called up 100 and told the police that they are going to commit suicide
Vijayawada: Ibrahimpatnam police on Saturday through Dial 100 service saved a family who were about to commit suicide by throwing themselves in a canal at Ibrahimpatnam. Police said V. Gopi, 28, his wife Manikyam, along with their 5-month-old daughter, who is visually challenged by birth, decided to jump into the canal at around 10.48 pm.
Manikyam called up 100 and told the police that they are going to commit suicide and no one was responsible for it. While she was speaking, local police reached the spot and saved the family, police said. Gopi jumped into the canal but was rescued by the cops.
In another case, Surya-raopet cops, through Dial 100 service saved seven members as they got stuck in a lift of a wholesale shopping market. The victims dialed 100 after which the local SI, blue colt constables G. Raju and U. Ramudu reached the spot helped the victims get out of the lift.
