NABH accredits Pandapilly Community Health Centre

The centre has seven primary health centres and 23 sub-centres under its ambit

KOCHI: The Pandapilly Community Health Centre under Muvattupuzha Block Panchayat is basking in the glory of getting the NABH accreditation.

It is the first community health centre in the state and the second in the country to get accreditation by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Health care Providers (NABH).

To get NABH accreditation, a community health centre needs to comply with 38 quality measures and 231 other criteria as recommended by the Quality Council of India.

The CHC at Pandapilly reportedly provides best quality service to patients and has very high standards in hygiene, waste disposal, prevention of communicable diseases, safe drinking water, sufficient medical equipment, and privacy of patients in the outpatient section.

The hospital has also published Citizen Right’s documents, health awareness circulars, and keeps systematic medical records. The CHC also has a website, computerised pharmacy and labs which helped it to bag the prestigious honour.

The hospital was established in 1959 and was upgraded to a community health centre in 2008. The centre has seven primary health centres and 23 sub-centres under its ambit.

Nearly 300 patients come for consultation in the OP Section per day while the inpatient section has 30 beds. The CHC has won several other honours from the health department and other agencies for its quality services.
