Narayana faculty to offer orientation classes to teachers of civic schools
Nellore: Faculty of Narayana educational institutes will organise orientation classes for teachers of corporation schools in the state this summer to enable them to offer foundation courses in biology, physics, chemistry and mathematics to students studying in municipal schools. The first of its kind foundation courses are meant to prepare the students of municipal schools to compete with their counterparts in corporate schools to excel in all-India level entrances tests such as IIT, JEE and AIEEE among others.
The intelligent among those studying in Class VIII, IX and X are being identified in the municipal schools across the state to commence the classes without any delay.
The programme is the brainchild of municipal administration minister, Dr P. Narayana. The minister is keen on nurturing academic skills among students of municipal schools to make them feel comfortable when they join corporate schools to pursue Intermediate with the help of government funded schemes.
Inputs have been given to the teachers such as study material of Narayana institution, which has already introduced foundation courses for IIT etc at school-level. The teachers of Narayana will take the classes during summer holidays for the benefit of municipal teachers and also monitor the programme thereafter.
As many as 3,024 students studying in 22 corporation schools enrolled their names for the course till Thursday night. The programme was launched in few schools across the state including Nellore on Friday.
“Mostly the poorest of the poor study in municipal schools and they generally feel out of place when they join intermediate. The foundation course would empower them to understand the nuances of entrances tests and improve their chances,” Mr Kannababu said.
According to Mr Kannababu, teachers have been told to identify meritorious and hardworking students in municipal schools across the state for the foundation course. The number will be limited to 20 students for each school. As of now, the classes will be held for two hours in the evening in select schools with the assistance of the teachers of Narayana institutions. Students will have the option to choose biology, physics and chemistry or mathematics, physics and chemistry depending on their interest.
