Murdered girl was a Class IX student

Hyderabad: A 15-year-old girl was raped and brutally killed by five persons on Thursday in the Bantwaram area of Ranga Reddy district. The girl and her father were returning to their home in Baruwada village. The victim is a Class IX student and her father a farmer. Last week, the victim had gone to her relatives' house in Chandanagar in Hyderabad. While returning she and her father came to Vikarabad by train. From Vikarabad they took a moped at around 10 pm. When they approached Baruwada they stopped to drink water.
“Five people who were waiting there in an autorickshaw noticed the girl. They suddenly attacked her father and he became unconscious. Then, they abducted her and took her in the same autorickshaw to an unknown place,” said Ranga Reddy district SP M. Srinivas. The father who suffered injuries on his head recovered after sometime and he and his family began a search for the girl immediately. They found the dead body of the girl at around 11 am on the outskirts of Baruwada village.
“The girl was raped and brutally killed. However, no one could identify the men or could give any clues of the men. It seems that it was not a pre-planned act,” said SI Ravinder of Bantwaram. “The girl’s father lodged a complaint and investigation is on to nab the culprits,” the inspector said.
The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has asked the collector of Ranga Reddy district and the SP to submit a report by June 5 regarding the rape and murder of the minor girl. Meanwhile, the police has registered a case for kidnap, rape, murder, the SC/ST Atrocities Act and the POSCO Act. Based on the post-mortem report the sections may be altered, the inspector said.
