Where did their dream run end?
These actors were going steady until one bad choice ended their dream run at the box office
Akshay Kumar
It isn’t just the newbies who seem to be having trouble at the box office, even seasoned actors like Akshay Kumar seem to be having trouble catching up to the changing tide of movie goers. The actor, who has had his fair share of hits and misses, ran into a brick wall with films like Boss, The Shaukeens and It’s Entertainment that kept haunting him till he made a comeback with Gabbar Is Back.
Sonakshi Sinha
Call it a bad phase in Bollywood, or the curse of a rising star because there is nothing else that can explain Sonakshi Sinha’s tragic run at the box office over the last year. Despite being paired opposite stars like Shahid Kapoor (R...Rajkumar), Ajay Devgn (Action Jackson) and Arjun Kapoor (Tevar), her movies still failed to get the cash registers ringing. Even South superstar Rajinikanth couldn’t save the day for her.
Parineeti Chopra
n Actress Parineeti Chopra, who won hearts with films like Hasee Toh Phasee and Ishaqzaade, hit a rough patch last year with two out of three films being considered financial failures. Both Kill Dil and Daawat-e-Ishq spelled disaster for the young talented star, who is yet to bag a film this year.
Ranbir Kapoor
It is hard to believe that just last Friday (May 15) Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma starrer Bombay Velvet hit rock bottom at the box office. The film that spent Rs 100 crore in making, couldn’t make even quarter the amount in its opening week. Be it the film, director or actors, nothing seemed to have helped in getting people rushing to the theatres.
Emraan Hashmi
The fate of Bollywood’s serial kisser Emraan Hashmi was the same as the role he played in the thriller Mr. X. Within a span of a year (2013- 2014) the actor slowly disappeared into the background after his films like Ghanchakkar, Ungli and Raja Natwarlal fared badly at the box office. The actor, who made his debut with romantic flicks, might just make his ‘comeback’ with the Vidya Balan starrer Humari Adhuri Kahani.
Saif Ali Khan
Saif Ali Khan was forced to take a break from movies to gain some perspective after films like Humshakals and Happy Ending quite literally ‘screwed up’ his run at the box office. His film Humshakals was even rated as the worst film in Bollywood, earning ratings in minus. The actor seems to have dusted it all off and is now set to hit the screens with Phantom.
