Government school kids also fare well in class X exams

A total of 1,164 government schools secured 100 per cent pass percentage

Chennai: Students of government schools in the state have done well in class 10 exams this year registering a pass percentage of 89.2 per cent. This year 6.9 per cent more girls from government schools have passed than boys. A total of 1,164 government schools secured 100 per cent pass percentage, an increase of 606 this year. In 2012, the number was 358. In 2013 it went up to 543 and in 2014 it was 558.

A total of 2,539 students from government schools scored centum in mathematics, and 27,157 and 10,408 students scored full marks in science and social science respectively. The Director of School Education, Dr S. Kannappan, attributed the success to schemes implemented by the state Government, including coaching classes for students and the special training for teachers. Of the 2.01-lakh students from government-aided schools who took the exam 1.88 lakh passed.

It is not only that students from government aided schools did well in the examination, but schools administered by the forest department too scored 92.18 pass percentage.
