10/10 prisoners in jails clear class X exams
217 prisoners including three women, passed, achieving a result of 92.34 per cent
Chennai: As many as 217 prisoners lodged in various jails in the state passed the class 10 examination this year, according a prison official here. Of the total 235 who wrote exams, 217, including three women, passed, achieving a result of 92.34 per cent, which is seven per cent higher than that of last year.
A murder convict, Muthuramalingam, 34, lodged in Palayamkottai Central Prison, Tirunelveli, topped the list with 425 marks out of 500. Another murder convict Balasubramani, 34, now in Central Prison, Madurai, stood second with 419 marks while Al-Umma activist Zahir Hussain, 45, jailed at Puzhal, came third with 417 marks. Last year, 112 inmates wrote the SSLC examination and 96 were successful.
