Website on public grievances fetches good response
Guntur: Increasing awareness among the youth in our society is visible at every stage in this digital era. The new website publiceye.in created by final year students of engineering, chief programmer Gunturu Manohar, database engineer Kom-mineni Tagore and others, from Vignan University in Guntur, is getting good response from youngsters and netizens. They are posting prevailing social problems in society on the website.
Netizens posted comments on the website on different topics including on corruption, Swachh Bharat, farmer problems, illegal activities, among others. The allegations are posted mainly on corruption and all together eight complaints were lodged relating to revenue, police and registrar’s department officials. Serious allegations were made with names and designations of the officers who demanded bribe from them. Complaints and comments on Swachh Bharat 9, on farmer problems 15, illegal activities 18, Need Help 30, advice to the government 30 and others 41 were posted on the website from different districts from both the Telugu states.
An allegation was made against a deputy tahsildar, D. Srinivas, Rajulapalem, which said, “I am M. Shesaya. I had applied for the pass book with patta No: 1746 Rajulapalem. The VRO said the deputy tahsildar is asking for Rs 2,400. Please give the amount to get the pass book. I said I am poor, Sir, I will give you Rs 1,200. All the people in my village said we should give at least Rs 2,500 to the deputy tahsildar to get the pass book.” He mentioned that the tahsildar was unaware of the game the deputy tahsildar was playing.”
Another complainant, Mr Ramakrishna wrote, “I am from Ramapuram village, Dachepally mandal, Guntur district. My village is located 3 kms from the highway. The connecting road is not maintained at all and the last time tar was applied was 20 years ago.” Mr Manohar of the website stated that some of the allegations raised by netizens are not substantiated but provide valid information. He said that they were trying to attach this website with the government so as to benefit people.
