Ebay will not ape flipkart to go exclusively app-based
Chennai: One of India’s growing e-commerce major, eBay said that market of online shopping is changing dynamically and the company will continue to offer services across multiple platforms like PCs and mobile app.
“Even though there is a spurt in transactions through mobile devices, we will focus on multi screen options and will continue our website operations,” said Naving Mistry, head retail exports and lifestyle category, eBay India.
Currently 43 per cent of eBay customers are from mobile apps. In 2013-14, percentage of mobile customers constitutes only low double digits. “From our 20 years of experience in e-commerce space and 10 years of experience in India, we feel that consumers has to be engaged on multi-screens and has to have options,” said eBay India head, corporate communications, Girish Huria. According to Mr Mistry, women shoppers are growing faster in the e-commerce space and the company is experiencing better penetration in tier two and three cities in India.
