VVIPs’ rush to pose challenge to police
Mantris scout for office space to shift to city
Vijayawada: The offices of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and other ministers coming up at different locations in the city pose a serious challenge to city police as well as the Intelligence Security Wing (ISW) which looks after security of VVIPs.
As Mr Naidu is all set to start working from Vijayawada from June 2 and work three days from the city, the ministers and the staff are now on the job to find office space for their respective department headquarters so that they are available to Mr Naidu once he shifts to city.
The works of Chief Minister’s Office at Irrigation department headquarters are going on at a fast pace and it is likely to be ready soon, but ministers are yet to confirm their location and are still scouting city for better equipped buildings.
HRD minister G. Srinivasa Rao’s department officials are waiting for the visit of higher officials to inspect the six buildings identified by them. Government Polytechnic College, Government Ayurveda College which are close to city and CM’s camp office are on top priority and officials who are likely to visit city in a couple of days would finalise the venue.
Similarly, irrigation minister D. Umamaheswara Rao is planning to move to the new office which is being constructed at Mus-eum Road since the department’s headquarters is paving for CM’s camp office.
Meanwhile, the health minister, who already has office at Dr NTR University of Health Sciences, would start working from there once the Chief Minister shifts to city. Excise minister Kollu Ravindra is also planning to shift to Vijayawada and is look for a building near Gateway Hotel on MG Road, while DGPs office is also coming up close to CM’s camp office in city.
This is going to be a major challenge for city police as they have to provide security as well as avoid inconvenience to public in view of movement of VVIPs in the city. Ministers Peethala Sujatha, P. Pulla Rao, P. Narayana and R. Kishore have earlier said that they would setup their camp offices in Guntur district and are likely to finalise the locations soon.
