Telugu Desam leaders spar at mini-Mahanadu

Contenders for district chief post attack each other
ADILABAD: Differences erupted among the Telugu Desam leaders over re-electing the existing president Lolam Shyamsunder as the president of the party’s district (west) unit during the mini-Mahanadu in Adilabad. However, his name was finally announced saying that he was elected unanimously on Wednesday.
Nirmal party in-charge Baber Baig picked up an argument with party politburo member Ramesh Rathod at the guest house on selecting Lolam Shyamsunder for a second time for the post though already Boda Janaradhan was chosen as east the party’s district president. Both Boda Janardhan and Lolam Shyamsunder belongs to the same community.
Earlier, Baber Baig and Ramesh Rathod had even attacked each other in the presence of senior leaders of Adilabad district. Mr Baig, while speaking at the meeting, said that party leaders and activists will not tolerate unilateral decisions of the leaders any more. He said that the party should be run on democratic rules but not under monarchic set up.
However, party state observer Laxman Naik has announced that Lolam Shyamsunder was re-elected as the president of the party’s west district unit. More surprising, Mr Baber Baig proposed the Shyamsunder’s name reportedly under pressure from the leaders. Senior leaders Younus Akbani, Soyam Bapurao, Ritesh Rathod, Suman Rathod, Narayana Reddy, Abdul Kalam and others were present at the meeting held this morning.
