The robbers also snatched a gold chain from one of the passengers

Ongole: Police foiled a robbery attempt in Chenna-bound Hyderabad-Chennai Express between Surareddypalem and Tanguturu in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh at 1.23 am on Thursday morning.

According to the Railway Police, the robbers halted the train by flashing a red signal.

The robbers put a few one rupee coins at a juncture where two railways tracks meet, near an automatic traffic signalling system, which then flashed the signal.

The train driver stopped the train.
