Fiat soon to fill government jobs

Employees and students have started criticising the government and have held dharnas

Hyderabad: The Telangana government is readying notifications to fill Group-II and Group-IV posts on the occasion of TS Formation Day on June 2. Besides, instructions have been given to all hotels and restaurants in the city to conduct Telangana cuisine food festivals from June 1 to 7.

Principal secretary of tourism and culture B.P. Acharya held a meeting with representatives of the hotel industry and asked them to organise grand celebrations by illuminating the hotels and giving wide publicity to the food festivals.

The government has also decided to give awards to hotels for best decoration and best Telangana cuisine. Hotels have been asked to focus on Hyderabadi biryani, haleem and kebabs to attract tourists.

A special film is being made on Hyderabad to promote tourism, which will be screened at all hotels. The government is also keen to please students, employees and farmers who are upset with it for failing to fulfill its promises on jobs, bifurcation of staff and compensation to the families of farmers who had committed suicide.

The TRS, which rode to power on the support of employees and students, has been drawing flak from these sections of late. Employees and students have started criticising the government and have held dharnas.

While students are fighting the proposal of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to take over unused lands belonging to three city universities to build houses for the poor and for not issuing a single job notification even after a year, the TS employees are protesting the inaction of the government in bringing pressure on the Centre and Kamalnathan Committee against allotment of AP staff to Telangana.
