Filmdom, then politics for Nikhil Gowda?
Bengaluru: A Kannada movie starring Nikhil Gowda, son of former chief minister and State Janata Dal (Secular) President H.D. Kumaraswamy, is likely to go to the sets in the second or third week of August.
Mr Kumaraswamy, who had been associated with Sandalwood for a brief stint as distributor before taking up cudgels for his father and former prime minister, Mr H.D. Deve Gowda, is sparing no effort to introduce his son in the yet to be named Kannada movie. In fact, Mr Nikhil Gowda made a guest appearance' in politics by leading an agitation against a toll booth on Nelamangala Road and seems to have decided to try his luck in films and maybe later in politics.
Confirming this to Deccan Chronicle, Mr Kumaraswamy said the movie starring his son is likely to go to the sets around August 15. Currently, Mr Nikhil is busy pursuing a course in acting which is likely to be completed by July end. "Yes, the project is a bit delayed as I am very particular about the story. Although, I came across five to six stories, I have zeroed in on a story which suits my son. I have discussed with a number of directors before finalizing the story. Now, the script and dialogue writing is on. That is likely to be completed within a month".
Pooh-poohing reports that the budget was around Rs 60 crore, the former CM said he was astonished to see these reports. The total cost including pre and post production was estimated to be around Rs 13 crore to 15 crore and no more than that. It would be a bilingual movie- both Kannada and Telugu and the film would be shot in the beautiful locations of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Two songs would be shot outside India.
The process of selecting the cast including the heroine is on and it would be finalised before June-July. "The movie title will be announced during the muhurtha likely to happen around August 15. After that, shooting will go on without any break. It has been my long cherished dream to introduce one of my family members to Kannada films and I found that quality in Nikhil Gowda".
Mr Kumaraswamy said he would like to take a temporary break from hectic political life to be present during the shooting of the movie. There would be not much political activity during that time since the BBMP elections should be over."I am optimistic that Nikhil will get a good break in Kannada filmdom through this movie", the former CM said.
