Listening to Kamal sing was wonderful: Sundaramurthy
Despite being busy with his Papanasam and Thoongavaanam, Kamal Haasan found time to croon Kaarirulae, a rock song for a film titled Avam. Music director KS Sundaramurthy is on cloud nine for having made Kamal sing in his debut film. “It is a peppy number and something every youngster can relate to. The lyrics also reflect this sentiment. A lot of novel Tamil words and ideas have been used in this song. Thanks to Madan Karky for penning such nice lyrics,” smiles Sundaramurthy.
Talking about why Kamal was chosen to sing this song, he says, a rock song in Kamal Haasan’s voice will elevate it to another level. “I am super excited and will cherish this for lifetime. It was wonderful to hear and see Kamal record the song. He’s a thorough professional. He has delivered the song with wonderful emotions and expressions. His voice is magical, and that helped me get what I wanted,” adds Sundaramurthy.
So far, Kamal has been singing only for his films. But the last time he sung was for Dhanush’s Pudhupettai nine years ago. “He made an exception for my film. My father Kumar has been working with Kamal sir for poster design from the days of Vikram. It was sweet of him to do this as a token of friendship between him and my father,” signs off Sundaramurthy.
Starring Gaurav and Kavya Shetty in the lead roles, Avam deals with child crime, the lives lead by urban youth and the troubles they bring upon themselves. The film is directed by debutant Vijay Vilvakrish, an associate of cinematographer-director Rajeev Menon.
