‘Amaravati’ domain name gains popularity on Web
Vijayawada: Amaravati has become a household name across the state since the Andhra Pradesh government has named its core capital after the ancient town.
While the name is gradually regaining global importance, the virtual world has already owned the name even before the capital construction plans materialised.
Unlike the realty sector, website domain names are booked as soon as a name or phrase becomes popular.

And almost all domain names like amaravathi.com, amaravati.com, amaravathi.co.in, amaravathi.org etc. were booked over the last one month when the state government revealed the capital city’s name.
This may be a drawback for the state government as it does not own any of these websites. As per search engine optimisation, the domain with the exact name will automatically get more traffic.
The Andhra Pradesh government will have to depend on web domains like amaravati.ap.gov.in, which represents a government site but will get less number of views until it becomes more popular.
This is contrary to the situation weeks ago when the name Amaravati was hardly important in the virtual world.
