Swachh Telangana is next on agenda
CM to finalise schedule after city leg of programme is over
Hyderabad: After Swachh Hyderabad, it will be Swachh Telangana soon. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who is spearheading Swachh Hyderabad and touring Hyderabad city in the scorching sun along with a host of ministers, officials and of course Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, is now planning to take Swachh campaign to other parts of Telangana. Mr Chandrasekhar Rao will finalise the date for launch of Swachh Telangana soon after completion of his city tour, it is reliably learnt.
Irrigation minister T. Harish Rao who undertook Swachh Hyderabad programme in SBT Nagar, Sri Ramnagar and other congested areas, also hinted at the launch of Swachh Telangana soon.
“We are going to launch Swachh Telangana soon on the lines of Swachh Hyderabad. We will take up the programmes in all municipalities, towns and villages. The dates will be announced soon,” he said.
Expressing satisfaction at the ongoing Swachh Hyderabad programme, he said he saw a marked change in the attitude of people who are keen to have clean surroundings. “All sections of people and political parties irrespective of political affiliations are participating in Swachh Hyderabad programme. This trend will be continued,” he remarked.
During the course of visit to some slums, the minister revealed that a Rs 300 crore plan to modernise the drainage system and clearing of all nalas from encroachments is being taken up in city.
“I will spend two days in a month to solve the problems of people living in bastis. The government’s aim is to ensure a clean and green Hyderabad and Telangana State,” Mr Harish Rao added. Like Chief Minister, Mr Harish Rao also interacted with locals and ascertained their problems along with BJP MLA Chintala Ramachandra Reddy and others local leaders.
