People send in 1,500 requests for drainage and road related issues to GHMC

Nearly 170 water works related issues were brought to fore, and almost 140 storm-water drain repairs were requested

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday announced that houses will be constructed for all the sanitation workers and that there will also be a salary hike very soon. The CM added that 2,500 vehicles will be given to the slum youth free of cost for door-to-door garbage collection from every household in the GHMC limits.

The government is planning to spend between Rs 2,000 and Rs 3,000 crore to modernise the existing sewerage and drinking water systems in an effective manner, he said.

Till Tuesday, nearly 5.2 lakh people had participated in the Swachh Hyderabad programme and had lent a helping hand to the authorities in cleaning the city and identifying the key issues.

Of the over 1,500 requests received by GHMC from the public over the last three days, over 400 were road-related and nearly 260 were drainage-related requests. Nearly 170 water works related issues were brought to fore, and almost 140 storm-water drain repairs were requested.
