In Japan, Mohanlal’s heart aches for Vizhinjam

He said ports had played a major role in Kerala’s history

Thiruvananthapuram: Superstar Mohanlal has sent a passionate appeal from Japan, urging folks back home to make history by ensuring that Vizhinjam deepwater container terminal dream project became a reality.

“I feel this dream project should not be drowned in controversies. Debates are good if they offer a remedy. But what use for controversies that bust everything? I believe Vizhinjam will be a milestone in the State’s developmental history”, said Mohanlal in a release on Tuesday.

“I am in Japan. Development is not mere lip service for these people who create wonders through their commitment and hard work. They deem it a responsibility to stay united and be confident. From here, it appears clearer that Kerala has to travel far ahead. We need big ports, better rails, wider roads, waterways and metros”.

He said ports had played a major role in Kerala’s history. The world arrived at this “tiny land” through ports. Vessels traversed Kochi and Kozhikode trade routes. Just not here, everywhere big ports had played a major in land’s development, said Mohanlal.
