Four Maoists surrender in Visakhapatnam
All four involved in various offences in the region
Visakhapatnam: Vizag rural police achieved another success in their anti-Maoist operations as two Maoist members and two Maoist militia members of the banned CPI (Maoist), Korukonda and Galikonda area committees, surrendered before the superintendent of police at the District Police Office here on Tuesday citing ill-health and a few other reasons.
The surrendered were identified as Pangi Somaraju, 19, of Thati-dowly area in Chintapalli mandal, V. Chinnam Naidu, 30, and militia members Pangi Chanti, 20 and Pangi Rambabu, 34, all belonging to Cherukumpalem area of GK Veedhi mandal in the district.
Speaking to reporters, Vizag rural police chief Koya Praveen said that V. Chinnam Naidu alias Sannam Naidu of Galoikonda area committee Dalam member and P. Somaraju of Koraukonda area committee Dalam member were involved in various offences.
Police said Naidu, a member of the outlawed movement since 2005 and carrying a cash reward of 'one lakh on his head, was involved in six major offences, including the blasts at APFDC’s coffee godowns and at a cell tower in Vizag Agency. Somaraju, who joined the outfit in 2010, was also involved in various offences, including murder of a panchayat vice-president K. Chinnaiah in 2010 and he used to supply material to Maoists and passed them information about the police movements in the area.
The militia members P. Chanti and P. Rambabu, who laid down arms, worked as informers and were also involved in the blast of APFDC’s coffee godowns and blocking vehicular movement by placing trees on roads during the Maoists’ bandh call in the border districts of the state.
