Rajahmundry: The Congress will take up a campaign to expo-se the BJP-led NDA reg-ime at the Centre and TD-BJP combine government in the state for failing to fulfil their po-ll promises causing har-dships to the people in the state from May 21 to coincide with death anniversary of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. The Congress is very critical against the Cen-tre for reneging on its promise to accord special status category to AP in the aftermath of bifurcation of the state to help it overcome the financial constraints to take up developmental works and welfare schemes and also for failing to implement the provisions incorporated in the XIII schedule of the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014.
With regard to the land acquisition bill also, the Congress flays the Centre for diluting the importance of the bill which was originally initiated by the Congress-led UPA regime in 2013. The Congress leaders are equally critical aga-inst the TD regime in the state for failing to fulfil its poll promises like waiver of loans to farmers and Dwcra wo-men and sanction of stipend to unemployed youth and others. With regard to the importance being accorded to execute the lift irrigation scheme on Goda-vari river at Pattisam of Polavaram mandal in West Godavari, the Congress leaders faulted Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for taking it up by neglecting the major Indira Sagar Polavaram project having multiple benefits to the people and farmers in state.
They say that the campaign will continue to coincide with several important anniversaries like May 26 where the BJP-led NDA under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed charge, June 2 when the combined state of AP was bifurcated to set up a separate Telangana st-ate and June 8 when the Chief Minister Naidu assumed office after getting elected to power.
The Congress is planning to organise a state-level party meet in Rajahmundry in the first week of June similar to the one held in Guntur recently to discuss on how to regain the lost hold in the state.
AICC president Rahul Gandhi is expected to visit AP in the first or second week of June to take part in valedictory session of the party's campaign in the state.
East Godavari Congress district president Kandula Durgesh said, “We intend to reach out to the people to explain as to how both the BJP and TD regimes failed to keep their promises. We are confident that the people will repose their trust on our party and support us.”
