Andhra Pradesh to seek ‘justice’ for its students
Admissions in NIT Warangal could be notified as per the Article 371D
Hyderabad: AP HRD minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao will meet Union HRD ministry officials later this month seeking a solution to the “injustice” to AP students regarding NIT, Warangal.
TS Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, who is also in charge of the education ministry, found fault with the AP government for seeking seats under home quota in NIT Warangal.
He said that if required, the TS government would fight it out “politically and legally” with the AP government.
Mr Srihari met the secretary of the higher education department, Mr Satyanarayan Mohanty, and told him that TS was not willing to share home quota seats with AP. The Union HRD ministry had on Saturday written to the TS government asking if admissions in NIT Warangal could be notified as per the Article 371D of the Constitution.
“AP government should think of making alternate arrangements for their students. They shouldn’t try to snatch the rights of TS students even after bifurcation. Telangana agitation was because our seats were going to them,” Mr Srihari said, adding, “Legally and constitutionally the 50 per cent seats are ours. Chandrababu Naidu is trying to use his influence with the Centre. We will face them. We will fight politically and legally.”
