Andhra Pradesh capital to get Shanghai power model
Hyderabad: Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh’s new capital city, will have the Shanghai model of power system.
The Andhra Pradesh government has asked APTransco officials to study the Shanghai model. The Transco has decided to appoint Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler (KPMG) as a consultant.
India-based KPMG will prepare the detail project report for the power system. The terms and conditions to prepare the DPR will soon be finalised by the APTransco.
The officials said that as per the Shanghai model, underground electrical cables will be laid.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu decided to adopt the Shanghai after his recent visit to China.
Moreover, the collapse of the power system in the northern Andhra districts following the Cyclone Hudhud was also a factor.
Once the model is adopted, heavy rains and cyclones will no longer affect power supply.
