Cop commits suicide over family problem

The police retrieved his body and sent it for post mortem
Coimbatore: Family issues drove a cop to commit suicide in the neighbouring Tirupur district on Tuesday. S.Senthil kumaran, 33 from Thanjavur district, who is working in the intelligence section at the Anupparpalayam police station, took the extreme step at his residence in Velampalayam.
“His wife Kanmani, 28 had gone to her parent’s house with her two-year-old son following a quarrel with him few weeks ago,” police said.
As he did not come out of his house for a long time on Tuesday morning, a few cops broke open the doors and entered inside. They were shocked to see Senthil Kumaran hanging with a saree tied to the ceiling fan of the house.
The police retrieved his body and sent it for post mortem at the Tirupur government hospital. Investigations revealed that Senthilkumaran spoke to some senior cops on Monday night over phone before taking the extreme step.
“Besides his family problem, the cop was also depressed over his work pressure," police said. The police have registered a case under IPC section 174 CrPC (suspicious death) and investigations are on.
