Duo puts Bengaluru city on ICSE podium, secures 3rd place across the country

Bengaluru: Bengaluru students have done their city proud again this year, as they walked away with accolades in the ICSE and ISC Exams. Two students from Greenwood High – Anurag Aditya Sharma and Pallavi V. Menon – have secured the third rank across the country with 98.8 per cent.

Results were announced at 11.30 am on Monday, with girls outdoing the boys. The pass percentage for girls stands at 98.95 and for boys, 98.12. 1,58,833 students appeared for the class 10 exam and 71,141 students for the Class 12 Exam. Most schools in Bengaluru have recorded cent percent results with no second classes.

"It hasn't sunk in yet," said Anurag, who has now proved himself to be one of the best in the country. "I was expecting 95 per cent, but not this." As most of the toppers this year have stressed, having a detailed schedule is crucial. "We had two weeks off during Christmas, so I made a schedule that contained the total number of chapters in all subjects, with a daily requirement for myself. Each time I finish one, I mark it off."

Anurag, who is looking at a career in Economics and Finance, or maybe even medicine, is also an avid footballer. Not having taken a single tuition class throughout his life, he says, "School was a great factor. My teachers were incredible, they deserve full credit for this."

Pallavi, who is in the US at the moment, thanks her school and her teachers. "They gave me constant and immense support. I'd also like to thank my parents, without whom this wouldn't have been possible," she said. Riya Agrawal, also from Greenwood High, has 98.4 in Class 10.

"The most important thing is time management," she said. "It's a lot of focussed work and then some relaxation time," she said. Riya is an avid debater and has brought home a number of prizes. "I got best speaker at a national level debate in Hyderabad this year," she said. "I also love drama and theatre."

Vaidehi, from New Horizon School is her class topper with 98 per cent. "I want to be an army doctor," she said. "I have always wanted to be in the army, but I don't think I'm physically fit enough for that. So I can be their doctor! If it's not that, I want to do research." Like Anurag, Vaidehi couldn't believe her eyes when she saw her results. "I actually got a friend to check it twice before I digested it," she said.

Kevin Jose Pazhoor, Gopalan International School, 95 per cent. “The school gives us a three-week study break before the exams, so that's when I really got down to business,” said Kevin.
