‘Can show how to untie dhoti,’ Madhya Pradesh minister told Russian woman

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Babulal Gaur raked controversy after he made bizarre statements on Russian women at a recent function in Bhopal.

Gaur disclosed that he had once told the wife of a Russian leader that he would teach her how to untie a dhoti.

“I told her I can’t teach you how to wear it, but I can certainly teach you how to remove it, but that too later, not now,” Babulal Gaur said.

The 85-year-old former Chief Minister went ahead and made several other remarks on how Russian women wanted to kiss him and he would have lost his party ticket if those pictures were made public.

His dhoti remark made some party leaders uncomfortable who attended the convention including women.

The Congress Party criticised his comments. "It is shameful what Gaur has said. He has been making such comments about women time and time again. This exposes his and his party's mindset as far as women are concerned. Gaur should immediately apologise for his comment," Congress spokesperson Shobha Oza said.

MP Congress unit's chief spokesman KK Mishra said, "Seasoned and senior leaders like him should refrain from making such comments."

Last year, Gaur had said rapes in Tamil Nadu were lesser in number because women wear decent dresses and visit temples daily.
