Water supply engineer held

Sleuths confiscate assets worth Rs 1.7 cr

Hyderabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials raided the house of rural water supply and sanitation department executive engineer Sheik Sirajuddin at Tolichowki and confiscated property worth Rs 1.7 crore. Sirajuddin was working at Nizamabad since some years and had accumulated wealth illegally, the Anti-Corruption Bureau alleged. The officer was arrested.

Officials said that he owns buildings, flats and plots in several parts of the city and in Nixzamabad. He also had lakhs in banks and gold.

“The value of the flats, buildings, gold and his bank deposit comes to around Rs1.5 crore. Going by his income he cannot acquire this much assets. We raided his place after getting information about his disproportionate assets,” said Mr J. Ashok Kumar, the DSP of Anti-Corruption Bureau.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau produced him before court and sent him to judicial remand. ACB officials raided Sirajuddin’s house in Nizamabad too on Monday.

The ACB officials visited his office here on the Zilla Parishad premises and his house in Chandrasekhar colony. DSP Narender Reddy and his staff visited both places.
